School has begun and things are in full swing in the district! I am taking 15 hours and some lagniappe on the side. My English Senior Seminar is proving to be my toughest course. It's this little bitty classroom where all 9 of us sit around a table and talk about William Faulkner for 2 and a half hours...thrilling, right? Believe it or not, I really do enjoy the class. The course load is just really big! I like all of my classes though. I am taking 2 theology courses, 1 education course and 2 English courses all together! Is it bad that I already can't wait for our next holiday break?
Outside of school, things are great, too! I was taking tap on campus, but with such demanding classes I'm having to take classes off campus instead. The neat thing is that it's with the same teacher! Program Board has been keeping me really busy, too. We've had quite a few successful events so far! The entire board is working so hard, and it is evident in the events. Not a whole lot has gone on in the city so far. Andy had a friend from home come and visit so we went out for tapas one night. I've probably been to Columbia Heights to get things on "the list" about 20 times in the last week. Why I can't seem to get it all in one trip, I don't know!
Labor Day weekend was the greatest! I WENT TO PHILLY! I saw Kate and Casey and some other people that go to school at Penn. It was such a good and much needed weekend after the first week of school. I was so overwhelmed so seeing Kate really put my mind at ease! Thanks, Kate, for letting me sleep in your bed! It was really comfy! I got to see her floor decorations and meet some of her friends. We went to the art museum...you know, the Rockey steps...one night because (GET THIS) her school decided it would just be a blast if they reserved the museum for a night and had amazing food and music and open exhibits for students to go to. Sooo, Kate got me a wristband and I went. I don't go to UPenn, but I sure went to the super fun night at the museum! Speaking of, I am convinced that they modeled the museum in Night at the Museum after this museum! They looked so much alike. We went shopping and rode the Septa which is like their metro, and had great food. They have so many outdoor restaurants. What a great weekend!
In other news: MEGHAN SABO CAME TO VISIT! That's right, former suitemate and Irish-dancing-star-wannabe, Meghan, came to visit this past weekend. If that isn't enough, she brought nuns with her! Some of her sister's order from New York were down visiting for the Eucharistic Congress and we all met up. Nothing like social hour with some sisters! They didn't have a place for them to sleep so they slept in my apartment and I slept in Marge's room! They were so nice and funny! I was so happy that they came and that I could give them a room to sleep in! Yay CFR's!
I'll be sure to keep you posted on new and exciting events as they come up...as for right now, time to sign out and head to class.
